SCOUT SKILLS and FIRST AID

There are two Scout Skills areas, one for each side of camp. Both areas offer rank advancements from Scout to First Class through the Passport Program, along with Totin' Chip, Fireman' Chit, and Paul Bunyan Woodsman awards. For 2010, only Grace Scout Skills will be operating with the full line of Merit Badges available in Grace.
Grace Scout Skills offers the following Merit Badges: Orienteering and Wilderness Survival.
Irvine Scout Skills offers the following Merit Badges: Pioneering and Camping.
First Aid Merit Badge: Meets in the Scoutmaster's Lounge portion of the Tom Tabb Center adjacent to Grace Scout Skills. The First Aid program offers Scouts the First Aid Merit Badge.
The Passport Program for rank advancements: Staff members are not allowed to sign off requirements for Tenderfoot, 2nd Class, or 1st Class Ranks in Scouts' books. Scouts receive a Passport with the requirements that they will be able to complete while at Lost Valley. Staff members will sign off the Passport as requirements are completed. Scouts will need to demonstrate the skills they learned to adult leaders within their Unit to be signed off.
CPR Requirements: Scouts can demonstrate knowledge of CPR for Aquatics (Swimming, Lifesaving, Rowing, and Canoeing) and First Aid Merit Badges at the First Aid area. The demonstration is offered during afternoon open program from 4:15 to 5:00 PM M, T, Th. Lost Valley does not offer American Red Cross or American Heart Association CPR courses.
