Adventure

The Cupeño people called it Wiatava, “the place of the oaks.” Since 1959, the Boy Scouts of Orange County have called it home.

Come join us for a week of adventure, advancement, and activity, and find out why Schoepe Scout Reservation at Lost Valley is the best summer camp around!

After traveling a scenic ten-mile dirt road that winds through the chaparral of the Bucksnort Mountains, Lost Valley unfolds before you as an oasis in the wilderness. Oak and pine trees surround grassy meadows and flowing creeks. The area abounds with wildlife and hiking trails.

Lost Valley is a rugged place waiting for those with an adventurous spirit and a desire to challenge body and mind. It provides opportunities for Scouts of all ages to explore and grow mentally, physically, and spiritually.

The Orange County Council has spent over $3 million dollars in the past ten years to provide two modern, cafeteria-style Dining Halls, the best program areas, and the finest facilities of any summer camp in Southern California.

Advancement

At Lost Valley, we offer 37 different Merit Badges, all taught by our trained and enthusiastic Camp Staff.

Whether you're interested in the adventure of Horesemanship and Rock Climbing, or the opportunity to earn required merit badges, this is your chance to move forward on the Trail to Eagle.

For those who enjoy Shooting Sports, we offer our professional Shotgun Range, our 24-position Rifle Range, and an Archery Range.

Our Nature Center offers Scouts the opportunity to learn about nature first hand, surrounded by a wealth of plants and animals, and our sparkling night skies make our Observatory one the best in Southern California.

The Staff at our First Class Scout Skills Center are dedicated to teaching outdoor skills and helping Scouts advance towards First Class.

Scouts who attend summer camp are 87% more likely to become an Eagle Scout than those who don't.

Activity

Lost Valley offers a wide array of activities for both Scouts and Scouters.

Our program schedule offers Scouts time to earn merit badges and rank advancement, as well as time for patrols to participate in recreational activities as a team ensuring a well-rounded summer camp experience that benefits the Scout, his patrol and the whole troop.

There are opportunities for hiking, horseback riding, the challenging COPE course, boating in lake, handicrafts, swimming in the pools, along with instruction in rank and merit badge advancement.

Summer camp also provides opportunities for youth leadership, and learning to be a team player.

A week of summer camp at Lost Valley promises "Memories that last a lifetime." Every Scout has the chance to learn and grow, while having a great time with their friends. They'll come home with tales of adventure, advancement, and activities they'll never forget.
